Meta Content Library and Content Library API provide comprehensive access to the full public content archive from Facebook and Instagram. Researchers can explore detailed documentation to learn more about using these products.

Meta Content Library and Content Library API provide near real-time public content from Facebook and Instagram. Details about the content, such as the post owner and the number of reactions and shares, are also available. Meta Content Library data includes:
  • Facebook: Pages, groups and events as well as posts that appear on public profiles that are either verified or that have 100 or more followers. Public Marketplace listings and fundraisers are also available.
  • Instagram: Posts shared by business and creator accounts as well as posts shared by personal accounts that are either verified or that have 100 or more followers. Public fundraisers and Instagram channels are also available.
  • Threads: Posts shared by public profiles with 100 or more followers (only available on Meta Content Library web-based user interface)
  • Geographical data: Available for most countries and territories but excluded from countries where Meta is still evaluating legal and compliance requirements
Meta Content Library is hosted by Meta Platforms. Content Library API is hosted within SOMAR’s secure Virtual Data Enclave and the Meta Secure Research Environment. Lead researchers can select to access Content Library API on either secure computing platform in their Meta Content Library application for their team.
